The DS game is pretty much all free range levels within the trappings of a thin strategy metagame, although the presentation is better than the N64/3DS game. The on-rails gameplay is about on par with that of the SNES original, but it's diluted by terrible 'free range' levels where you're forced to make multiple passes over the same barebones map time and again. The N64 game is a huge downgrade in presentation - extremely ugly (even in the 3DS revision), ear-grating voice acting, moronic storyline additions, and shitty 'music'. It has like a real time strategy segment to it as well and it's not good. The gameplay is sub-par and the universe left over from Adventures and Assault has become so needlessly bombarded with shitty side characters and sub plots. My game was even bugged out and didn't save my endings. If Adventures was Sonic Adventure 1, Command is Sonic '06. Except for the music it has the least redeeming features. It's not a bad game, just doesn't live up to Starfox 64. Namco isn't bad, don't get me wrong, but things just feel a little off. For everything that isn't fighting games, Nintendo just has that much more polish. The multiplayer is brilliant, I think, and the standard game is not bad but.I mean it's made by Namco. It's still playable and if you don't treat it like a starfox game, it's not bad, but there are better games out there.ДЄssault was somewhat of a return to the original formula, but introduced land segments and continued with the universe that Adventures set up. I thought, at the time, it was a good Zelda-esque game, though I went back to play it and it hasn't held up as well as I remember. It introduces a lot of extra story, characters and locations that many thought were un-nessecary to the starfox universe. So Adventures is basically 2% flying in a spaceship and 98% Zelda-clone. Treat Adventures as more of an experimental spin-off curiosity. I'd say Assault should be the next one you try, after SF643D. The game has great graphics and a sweeping orchestral score, and an amazing multiplayer mode where you and three others can run around freely in sandbox-style levels, hopping in and out of tanks and starfighters and zipping around with your jetpacks.

The Arwing missions are generally excellent, but there's simply not enough of them. The on-foot missions are nothing special, but the Landmaster missions are decent. You have Landmaster missions (a tank that can hover and barrel-roll), and you have on-foot missions where you run around shooting at enemies with a variety of weapons.

You have a number of Arwing missions, both on-rails and all-range, like Star Fox 64. Star Fox Assault is a solid title, but it's a bit short. And it's not a very solid adventure, either - it's dragged down by simplistic combat and a mind-numbing array of fetch-quests. The game actually has incredible graphics and a lovely soundtrack by the legendary Dave Wise. And furry fetishist icon Krystal (the scantily-clad blue-titty fox-girl) made her debut here. Fox runs around on foot and wields a magic staff and has a talking triceratops companion named Tricky. You barely have any flying sections - a mere handful in all, leading to each new area. Star Fox Adventures, made by Rare, started as Dinosaur Planet, an N64 action-adventure that plays very similarly to Zelda.
